Dieting and hair loss is one of the most common reasons people experience temporary hair loss due to malnutrition
------------------
Dieting and hairloss can sometimes go hand in hand with trying to loose
weight and
nope not even the so called experts agree on the full reason for hair loss and
it may take a long time in unraveling. Loosing hair from dieting is
what this page will discuss along with hairloss treatments
loosing weight to quickly can cause hair loss, thinning hair and hair that just looks in poor condition.
To be sure obesity is fast becoming the #1 health problem in America but going on a starvation diet is only going to add to the possibility of hair loss from dieting along with many other potential health problems.
The average American diet such as it is so full of useless calories due to the over processing of meats and grains that it can be all but bereft of any meaningful nutrition.
Add to this the over farming of land without a rest to allow the- natural-re-fertilization to occur and you have food that may look good but could be missing the necessary vitamins, minerals and enzymes that are needed to sustain life (and your thinning hair).
For an example it is known that in parts of America that have a lack of the mineral selenium in the soil, both from over farming and natural processes, that there's a higher occurrence of many human cancers.
This is just the tip of that iceberg and that is a story for another time but something to keep in mind as low selenium intake and hair loss and have been noted.
Also note that you should not overdue selenium intake and usually the amount that you get in a good vitamin / mineral supplement along with a good diet should be fine as overdosing can also cause hair loss and thinning hair.
Bottom line is - Protect yourself and your family (and your hair) as I believe obesity noted on the NIH site link above is possibly caused in part by a lack of vitamins and minerals (especially calcium) and the body knows it must eat more of this poor quality food to get what it needs--just my opinion anyway.
Now add to this the typical dieting process of reduced intake of necessary fats and
carobs (yes the body needs both IN the right amount and type to survive) and you have the perfect setup for physical decline and dieting and hair loss and thinning hair may in the end be the last thing you’ll have to worry about.
The answer here is to me anyway -- be sure to get your daily dose of vitamins and minerals in a supplement plus some omega 3 oils (salmon oil capsules preferably 1000 mg –that’s what I personally use) and don’t worry - they don't have a lot of calories to worry about but it does help to make your blood more resistant to clotting and theoretically increases circulation to your hair.
Of course this can be helpful for many reasons besides as a hair loss remedy as in reducing the chances of a heart attack
-- just remember the hair is attached to the scalp and it needs blood to nourish the hair follicles and reduce dieting and hair loss issues.
